Colorado rocks Kershaw; Phillies have 12-run first

DENVER — Clayton Kershaw surrendere­d back-to-back homers for the first time in his career, with Mark Reynolds and Gerardo Parra going deep in the sixth to help the Colorado Rockies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 on Saturday night.

Reynolds lined a two-run homer off Kershaw (1-1). Three pitches later, Parra followed with a shot to help the Rockies improve to 5-1 for the third time in franchise history.

The Dodgers ace went six innings and gave up four runs, including three homers.

Colorado starter Jon Gray allowed one run over 5⅓ innings. Farmington’s Mike Dunn (2-0) got two outs in the sixth to earn the win.

PHILLIES 17, NATIONALS 3: In Philadelph­ia, Howie Kendrick had a three-run triple while Philadelph­ia scored 12 runs for the biggest first inning in team history as the Phillies routed Washington.

Philadelph­ia piled up nine hits and four walks off Jeremy Guthrie (0-1) and Enny Romero in the first. The Phillies didn’t hit any homers in the inning, but did have three doubles. Maikel Franco, Michael Saunders and Tommy Joseph each had two RBIs while Washington set a team mark for runs allowed in an inning.

DIAMONDBAC­KS 11, INDIANS 2: In Phoenix, David Peralta hit a go-ahead solo homer in the sixth inning for Arizona, which pulled away late to rout Cleveland.

The Diamondbac­ks (5-1), who have come from behind in each of their wins, scored four runs in the sixth inning and six more in the eighth.

Arizona’s Zack Greinke (1-0) pitched 6⅔ innings, allowing a run and five hits.

ORIOLES 5, YANKEES 4: In Baltimore, Hyun Soo Kim hit a tie-breaking RBI single off Dellin Betances in the seventh inning as Baltimore remained the only unbeaten team in the majors by rallying past New York.

One day after making up a four-run deficit, the Orioles came back from being down 4-1 and improved this season to 4-0.

WHITE SOX 6, TWINS 2: In Chicago, Avisail Garcia homered and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Geovany Soto also went deep, helping Chicago keep Minnesota from its first 5-0 start since 1968.

Soto’s homer was his third of the season in four games.

ATHLETICS 6, RANGERS 1: In Arlington, Texas, Kendall Graveman held Texas hitless until Mike Napoli homered with two outs in the seventh inning in Oakland’s win over the Rangers.

Graveman (2-0) gave up two hits in seven innings, striking out five and walking one.

ROYALS 7, ASTROS 3: In Houston, Cheslor Cuthbert hit a solo homer early and Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez both went deep during a six-run eighth inning, helping the Kansas City rally for a win over Houston.

The Royals trailed 2-1 and managed just two hits off Dallas Keuchel before Luke Gregerson (0-1) took over for the eighth.

CARDINALS 10, REDS 4: In St. Louis, Aledmys Diaz hit two home runs and Michael Wacha (1-0) allowed one run over six innings as St. Louis beat Cincinnati to spoil pitcher Bronson Arroyo’s return to the majors.

RAYS 3, BLUE JAYS 2 (11): In St. Petersburg, Fla., Toronto reliever Casey Lawrence made his major league debut and wound up walking home the winning run with two outs in the 11th inning, lifting Tampa Bay over Toronto.

TIGERS 4, RED SOX 1: In Detroit, Jordan Zimmermann pitched six solid innings, and Jose Iglesias and James McCann homered in Detroit’s victory ovr Boston.

PADRES 2, GIANTS 1: In San Diego, rookie Manuel Margot doubled twice off Madison Bumgarner (0-1), and San Diego starter Jhoulys Chacin and two relievers held San Francisco to five hits in beating the Giants.

CUBS 11, BREWERS 6: In Milwaukee, NL MVP Kris Bryant drove in his first three runs of the season as Chicago overcame a shaky start by starter Kyle Hendricks to beat Milwaukee. Hendricks, who led the majors with a 2.13 ERA last year, gave up four runs in the first inning.

PIRATES 6, BRAVES 4: In Pittsburgh, Gregory Polanco had no trouble with R.A. Dickey’s knucklebal­l, getting three of his four hits and driving in a run off the starter to lead Pittsburgh over Atlanta.

MARLINS 8, METS 1: In New York, Marcell Ozuna hit a mammoth home run and Adam Conley allowed one hit through five innings to lead Miami over New York.
