Ann Taylor Loft shuts at Uptown

Ann Taylor Loft at Uptown will close on Saturday.

There is no word yet on the status of Loft’s second location at 5901 Wyoming NE. The company did not respond to a request for comment Thursday.

A news release from Loft advises customers to shop online at www.loft.com.

This is just the most recent hit for ABQ Uptown. In the last month, the outdoor mall has also lost Bebe’s and Marcello’s Chophouse.

Constructi­on firm schedules job fair

Desert Utility and Paving LLC is holding a job fair this weekend to fill 40 positions.

The constructi­on company, which specialize­s in concrete, paving, utilities, concrete slabs and highway work, said in a news release Thursday it is willing to offer up to $1 million in bonuses this year if it meets profit requiremen­ts.

Wages range from $17.50 per hour to more than $40 per hour, plus benefits. The company says it is willing to train “the right people.”

The job fair will be from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the company’s offices, 8421 Washington NE.

Credit union offers document shredding

In recognitio­n of Earth Day, Sandia Area Federal Credit Union will hold a document-shredding event from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at

the Montgomery Branch Office, 11301 Montgomery NE.

All shredded documents will be recycled.

The shredding is free, but participan­ts are asked to bring at least one grocery bag of nonperisha­ble food to benefit The Storehouse as payment.

Participan­ts are limited to three banker’s boxes of documents, and each person must remain with their documents until they are loaded onto the truck for shredding.

There will be no drop-off service.

Oil, gas lease sale nets nearly $4M

SANTA FE — The latest oil and gas lease sale has netted nearly $4 million for public schools and other beneficiar­ies.

The State Land Office said this month’s sale attracted two dozen bidders from six states. Up for auction were 35 tracts covering nearly 9,000 acres in Eddy, Chaves and Lea counties in southeaste­rn New Mexico.

With two months left in the fiscal year, revenues earned from monthly oil and gas lease sales have surpassed $61 million. Officials say earnings for the 2016 fiscal year totaled only $36 million.
