Join fight against right-wing ideology

-

As a Central Labor Council member, I know the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). They lobby states for Right to Work, reducing taxes and regulations, combating “illegals,” passing voter ID, and opposing gun control. After Trayvon Martin was killed in 2012, ALEC supported “standyour-ground” laws. Coke and other large corporations have funded ALEC’s campaigns.

Coke looked to ALEC to oppose pre-K here. “A Better Way” is a market-tested right-wing slogan. ALEC gave that name to Rep. Paul Ryan’s health care proposal and other initiatives. It gets progressive voters to believe that equity, fairness and a social safety net are achieved by measures controlled by those with vast wealth and power.

Fight against right-wing ideology. Don’t let Pre-K for Santa Fe become another victim of corporate power. Dispute Coke’s propaganda. Assure fellow Santa Feans that local jobs and businesses are secure in a town that supports better health, education and justice.
