Vote against Big Soda next month

My job is to work with Capital High teenagers. Many have problems because of poverty, sometimes making it difficult to have a safe place to be, and because they did not have the right preparation to succeed in school and life. This is why I am excited about Pre-K for Santa Fe. It will make a huge difference by giving the next generation of disadvantaged Santa Fe children a level playing field with those whose parents can afford pre-K.

The other reason I will vote yes on May 2 is more personal. I have seen how Big Soda blankets poor and minority communities with ads. I know the effects of sugary sodas. I have relatives with diabetes and heart disease, and some who have even had legs amputated. Anything that will reduce sugary drink consumption will be worth it. Vote for our children on May 2, not for Big Soda.
