Put blame where it belongs

RE: “TRUMP doing what Democrats couldn’t,” (March 21) letter to the editor by Betty J. Hawley. (She) made a number of statements that need to be clarified.

She first mentions that President Trump “is doing everything he promised, so why are the Democrats holding him back.” Let’s take a look. After a promise to repeal Obamacare “immediately,” in the final analysis it was the Republicans in Congress who backed Obamacare instead of Trump-Ryan care ... .

Trump’s immigration/Muslim ban was shot down by the courts, the legal system that is the foundation of this nation, not the Democrats.

Mexico is not going to pay for the wall; you are. The failed raid in Syria that cost the United States a decorated Navy Seal and the lives of many civilians — is this where we chant, “Benghazi! Benghazi! Benghazi!”? Nope, not the Democrats’ fault.

Remember the crooked Hillary chant. OMG her emails and (ties) to the Clinton Foundation. Well, the investigations into the Russian connections to this president and his minions will trump any perceived corruption from Clinton. Is this where we chant, “Lock him up! Lock him up! Lock him up!”?

You say, “Obama brought this country to its lowest point ever.” Wow, I didn’t know the Civil War, two world wars, the Great Depression and the 9/11 attacks happened on Obama’s watch. As a vet and a small-business person, I am truly grateful to President Obama for not starting any new wars and lifting this country out of a terrible economic recession . ...

Trump is a trust-funder whose businesses have filed for bankruptcy a half dozen times. He doesn’t pay his contractors or his taxes. ... If you think this president has any clue or anything in common with the working class, then you have been grabbed by the alternative facts. You have been conned. Don’t blame the Democrats.
