Aggie women will stay close to home
NMSU to play in ABQ Regional
LAS CRUCES — The New Mexico State women’s golf team will attempt to make itself at home in Albuquerque after earning a spot in the NCAA Regional at the UNM Championship Course.
The Aggies, making their fourth straight regional appearance under coach Jackie Booth, are seeded No. 14 in the event which takes place May 8-10.
No. 1-ranked Stanford, No. 9 Duke, No. 12 Southern California, No. 16 Miami and No. 17 Oklahoma State are also in the Albuquerque regional.
Freshman Pun Chanachai of Bangkok leads NMSU after winning medalist honors at last week’s WAC Championships. NMSU’s lineup also included Socorro senior Kristen Cline and Rio Rancho freshman Dominique Galloway.
The top six teams in each of four regions and the top three individuals not associated with one of those teams will advance to the 2017 NCAA Championships in Sugar Grove, Ill.
The regionals feature 54 holes of stroke play, 18 holes daily.
