Frank Iero playing at Meow Wolf after recovering from accident

- ADRIAN GOMEZ Arts Editor

Frank Iero knows that his days of touring will end one day.

When that happens, he will be able to be with his wife and children more.

Yet when he’s off tour, he spends as much time as he can with them. “The older they get, the more they understand what Dad does,” he says. “I miss things when I’m out on tour. Skype and Facetime are cool, but it’s not the same as being home.”

Iero’s latest tour has him his band, the Patience, stopping at Meow Wolf on May 5. He is touring in support of his latest album, “Parachutes.”

The My Chemical Romance alum is grateful to be on tour again after healing from an auto accident in Sydney last year.

That’s also why he cherishes the time he has with his family. And it’s why he recorded his albums in his basement at home.

“They would ask my wife, ‘Why does Dad go into the basement and scream?’” he says with a laugh. “I’ve been able to get to the point where I do music the way I want to. It’s a balance, and I’m fortunate to be blessed with my family.”
