The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body found burned in the East Mountains last week as that of an Albuquerque man reported missing a few days earlier.

Terry Williams, 56, has been identified as the man whose body was found last Friday near the Cibola Campground by Juan Tomas Road and Atkins Avenue, according to a BCSO spokeswoman.

At the time Williams’ body was found it was unidentifiable, Felicia Romero said.

She did not release the cause of death and said there are no suspects. Next of kin has been notified.

Williams was reported missing by his girlfriend after she found his apartment ransacked on April 26, according to the Albuquerque Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit.

He was last seen leaving his girlfriend’s house around 9 p.m. the night before, according to police.

Around 5 a.m. on April 26, his alarm company called to let her know the alarm was going off in

his apartment.

Authorities said Williams’ girlfriend found his apartment in disarray, with the alarm panel torn off the wall and security camera wires ripped out.

His girlfriend told police the drawers had been pulled out of Williams’ dresser and night table, and items were scattered around the room. She said a revolver was missing, along with a folder containing Williams’ personal information.

When police watched security footage, they saw two people use keys to enter Williams’ apartment one minute before his alarm went off.

Williams had not been seen or heard from, and his cellphone was going straight to voicemail.

Two days later, his body was found burned in the East Mountains.

Detectives are attempting to locate Williams’ car, a blue or dark turquoise 2000 Cadillac DeVille. The car was last seen with the New Mexico license plate 933RWL. The Cadillac has white wall tires with yellow stripes, stock tint and a gray interior.

Anyone with information is asked to call 505-205-4991.
