Saavedra, Pedro (Pete) T.

Pedro (Pete) T. Saavedra, age 87, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He was born in Luis Lopez, NM on May 24, 1929, to Luis and Gabrielita (Tafoya) Saavedra.

He graduated from Socorro High School and served in the United States Army for two years where he fought in the Korean War and then received an honorable discharge as a Corporal. He married Emma Armijo Saavedra in 1952. He worked for Albuquerque Public Schools as a Custodial Supervisor for over 20 years and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his bride of 24 years, Emma Saavedra, his brothers and sisters.

Pedro (Pete) is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Richard) Chavez and granddaughter Gloria Chavez all of Rio Rancho, NM.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017, 9:30 am with a Rosary to follow at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd SE, Rio Rancho. Mass will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017, 10:30 am, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be given in Pedro (Pete)’s honor to The American Legion Post 69 www.duranygallegospost69
