La Cumbre plans apricot beer release, Mother’s Day market

- BY ROZANNA M. MARTINEZ

La Cumbre Brewing Co. is sharing its apricot fever and saving you this Mother’s Day with a market full of gift ideas.

The brewery is having a special release of its dry and spicy saison, 2017 Fievre d’Abricot, beginning at noon today. Food truck My Sweet Basil will be there to satisfy appetites.

“The apricot saison is a really traditional farmhouse ale,” said Cory Campbell, La Cumbre marketing director. “It’s a Belgian-style ale, and we added apricots to it, about 2,000 pounds. It has a strong apricot nose. It’s my personal favorite beer that we make. It’s very good. Fievre d’Abricot is French for ‘apricot fever.’”

If you can’t make it today, head over Saturday, May

13, for the special saison, as well as something unique for mom during the Mother’s Day Market. The market will feature arts, crafts and more. Prismatic Coffee will help with your caffeine fix. Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm will be on hand, offering its soaps, body butter, soothing cream and more of its lavender-based products.

The event will also feature jewelers Chela Gurnee and MADE by Molly Hennerty, as well as printmakers Cody Saint Arnold and Sarah Vito.

A representative for LuLaRoe, which specializes in leggings also will be part of the event.

Food will be available for purchase from My Sweet Basil during the event. After the market, The Gershom Brothers will perform from 6 to 9 p.m.

“What we decided to do is hold an event before Mother’s Day just because I know I always forget as well as other guys out there and ladies,” Campbell said. “We are going to have vendors that would have good things for Mother’s Day like Los Poblanos. (Shoppers) can come browse around.”
