Metzner, Lucia (Lucy) Helena Baca

Lucia (Lucy) Helena Baca Metzner, born November 18, 1926 died on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

Lucy was born in Albuquerque and raised in Bosque, NM. She graduated from Belen High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bernie Metzner; daughter, Barbara Ann Metzner-Garcia; and granddaughter, Siobhan Garcia. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Remelia Baca, as well as siblings, Vidal, Ruben, Abe, Emily Gabaldon, Nila Chavez, Gertrude Sisneros and Eloria Rhoades.

She is survived by her children, Carla, Barney and wife, MaryAnn, Frank and wife, Liz, Helen and husband, Hossein, Paula, Katrina and husband, Ed; grandchildren, Jamy, Michelle, Dominic, Myrria, Tamara, Eddie, Kian, Jarrod, Parisa, Valerie, Benjamin, Zack and Jeremy; as well as 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Herman, Celine, Issias, Mary Tearnan; and brother-in-law, Dusty Rhoades. Lucy was the matriarch of a large, loving family. The mother of many, the guardian angel of all. She was a quiet woman with an infectious laugh, who loved jokes even though she couldn’t tell one to save her life. She was a very strong woman who never stopped giving it her all.

She will be so deeply missed.

The Rosary will be recited on Saturday, May 13, 2017, 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH – University, with visitation beginning at 6:30p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 15, 2017, 9:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 309 Stover Ave SW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Blvd Edith NE. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be on Sunday, May 14, 2017, contact family for details.
