Cobi coming to town
Artist on the rise has plenty of buzz as he establishes himself as a solo act
When Cobi rolls into the Duke City and sets up at Launchpad, it will be his first time performing in the city.
Is he nervous about playing a new market?
“Expectations can be dangerous,” he says. “I go into each show with an open mind and perform to the best of my ability.”
Cobi is currently one of the most buzzed-about acts in music. His single, “Don’t You Cry for Me,” has been compared to Hozier’s smash single, “Take Me to Church,” because of the use of a choir.
But Cobi is different. He’s working to make a name for himself as a solo artist, after his time with a band came to an end a few years ago. With an upcoming album due out later this year, he can’t wait.
“The songs are being mixed and mastered as we speak,” he says. “It’s the most wonderful thing and it’s the scariest. All of the work I’ve done for the last two years is coming to fruition.”
