Garrison, John Rudolph

-

John Rudolph Garrison passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. John was born September 20, 1928, in Joplin, MO and often described his childhood as "the best any kid could have." He attended the University of Arkansas, served in the Marines during the Korean War, and returned home to graduate from Pittsburg State University, foregoing his opportunity to play professional baseball with the St. Louis Browns. John was a teacher, a school counselor, assistant principal and principal in the Albuquerque Public Schools. John had a rare gift that enabled him to bring out the best in everyone. Children, teachers, parents and tennis players worked hard to meet his high expectations, and to please John. No one worked harder to ensure the success of others than John did.

John was preceded in death by his son, Brad Garrison; sister, Virginia McClain; and his parents, John and Geraldine Garrison. John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara; son, Gregg Garrison and wife, Kathy; daughter-in-law, Sandy Garrison; as well as grandchildren, Chad Garrison and fiance, Sonya Quintana, Julie Garrison and fiancee, Paul Cervantes, John Robert Garrison, and Scott Garrison and partner, Ava Shire; and his brother, George Garrison and wife, Barbara.

Memorial Services will be held at FRENCH – Wyoming on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
