Margaret "Maggie" Viola Espinoza Sandoval, 95, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend was called to her eternal resting place on May 23, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel; son, Bennie; and her beloved brothers, Juan, Eloy, Arturo, Rafael, Celedon, Abel, and Jacobo Espinoza.
Maggie is survived by six of her seven children, Manuel Sandoval (Tory), David Sandoval (Gloria), Evelyn Giron (Sam), Yolanda Bowes (Michael), Jane Cooper (Doug), and Frank Sandoval. Maggie is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, Vanessa Gonzales, Natalie DuBois, Maya Sanchez, Tomas and Christopher Sandoval, Bennie Jr., Ricky, Daniel, and Manuel Sandoval, Greg Giron, Denise Montoya, Carlos and Elias Roybal, Ed Griego, and Maggie Olsner-Sandoval. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Maggie learned to cook at a very young age and became an exceptional cook. She worked in Taos, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque, lastly at UNM’s Casa del Sol. She brought people together with her unmatched talent for making the best beans and chili as well as tortillas, sopaipillas, biscochitos, and much more. It was indeed a treat to eat Maggie’s food and to be blessed by her love and friendship.
Maggie will be remembered for her unrelenting spirit, strong will, outstanding wit, and independence. She goes before us with memories of her love for God. We will miss her dearly and she will forever remain in our hearts. May we follow the trail she made for us until we find her once again at the side of our Savior.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH –Wyoming with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Parish, 833 Arizona St. SE. Interment will follow after the Mass at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be Ed Griego, Carlos Roybal, Elias Roybal, Greg Giron, Martin Gonzales, and Damien Griego.
