Comcast NM volunteers tackle projects in 9 cities
To Comcast employees in New Mexico and across the country, Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day — it’s the culmination of their commitment to volunteerism and making change happen in the communities where they live and work.
Comcast Cares Day volunteers cleaned and painted Tombaugh Elementary School in Las Cruces; beautified the grounds of Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County; improved the basketball court and picnic area at Navajo Preparatory School in Farmington, and much more.
“We are so proud to partner with these important organizations and witness the amazing change that’s possible when thousands of volunteers donate their time to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Chris Dunkeson, Comcast Area vice president.
In Santa Fe, 250 volunteers repackaged food at The Food Depot, an organization that works to end hunger in Northern New Mexico, for more efficient distribution to families in need. Volunteers packaged 18,000 pounds of carrots, created diaper care packages for 80 families, and repackaged potatoes.
“We want to extend our gratitude and excitement to the Comcast Cares Day volunteers for giving back at The Food Depot and improving the lives of families in Northern New Mexico,” said Jennifer West, Community Relations Coordinator, The Food Depot. “In just two years, we have built such an excitement and anticipation for this event. We truly appreciate Comcast as a community partner, and all that goes into organizing this event,” West said.
Comcast Cares Day projects in New Mexico included work for these communities and organizations:
Albuquerque — Lavaland Elementary School, Roadrunner Food Bank, Big Brother Big Sisters of Central New Mexico, and United Blood Services.
