CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Will Scott, 9, caught and released a 23½inch rainbow May 27 on Cow Creek using a black woolly bugger.

At Tingley Beach, Michael Certo of Albuquerqu­e caught a 24-inch, 5-pound and a 20-inch, 3½-pound channel catfish Friday He was using shrimp. … Erin Montaño, 10, and Gabby Montaño, 8, of Rio Rancho caught a 26-inch and an 18-inch channel catfish Saturday. They were using worms.

Alex Behrend of Santa Fe caught a 22-inch walleye at Cochiti Lake on Saturday. He was using a Jawbreaker spoon.

Russ Schuler of Albuquerqu­e caught a 21-inch walleye on Friday at Conchas Lake. He was using a shad-colored wally diver with a night crawler trailer.

Kristen Mills of Albuquerqu­e caught a 20-inch rainbow trout Friday at Fenton Lake. She was using a night crawler.

Trevor Stockdale of Hobbs caught a 21-pound, 4-ounce carp May 31 at Green Meadow Lake. He was using corn.

Raeanna Romero, 18, of Roswell, caught a 22-inch channel catfish May 31 at Lake Van. She was using chicken liver.

Derrick Sandoval of Santa Fe caught a 5.42-pound walleye May 30 at Abiquiu Lake. He was using a large crank bait.

Charity Otero of Socorro caught a 24-inch, 8-pound blue catfish May 29 on the Rio Grande. She was using chicken liver on a #2 hook.

Ron Gibel of Colorado Springs caught and released a 5.02-pound largemouth bass at Ute Lake.

AROUND THE STATE

HERON LAKE: Water level still rising. Water still turbid. Fishing still slow. Some rainbow trout still being caught on shore by the dam and in the Ridge Rock area. Sailboat slip in Willow Creek will open in two weeks. Don Wolfley, Stone House Lodge

ISLETA LAKES: Fishing is very good. However, with the warmer weather, fishing is best during early morning. In the heat of the day, fishing slows considerab­ly. Best baits are garlic chicken liver, various stink baits and worms. No trout or bass activity at this time. Our annual Catfish Derby continues until July 9. Carlos Trujillo, Isleta Lakes & RV Park

NOTES FROM GAME & FISH

At TINGLEY BEACH, fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was very good using shrimp, hot dogs, liver and homemade dough bait for catfish.

Streamflow on the JEMEZ RIVER near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 61 cfs. Fishing was very good using night crawlers, salmon eggs, stone fly nymphs, copper John Barrs, San Juan worms and Fire Balls for trout. Fishing on the East Fork was good using San Juan worms, small prince nymphs

and worms for brown trout. Trout fishing on the San Antonio was very good using elk hair caddis flies, San Juan worms, worms and spinners.

At FENTON LAKE, fishing was good using assorted colors and scents of PowerBait, Fire Balls, Kastmaster­s, chamois leeches, woolly buggers, caddis imitations and Pistol Petes for trout.

Fishing at SANTA CRUZE RESERVOIR was very good using woolly buggers, Pistol Petes, gold spoons, Fisher Chick spinners, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.

At EL VADO LAKE, fishing was very good using curly tail grubs, worms and crank baits for smallmouth bass.

Fishing at MONASTERY LAKE was very good using woolly buggers, Pistol Petes, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.

At LAKE MALOYA, trout fishing was very good using Pistol Petes, woolly buggers, PowerBait and Kastmaster­s for fish up to 3 pounds.

Trout fishing at LAKE ALICE was good using PowerBait, worms, Pistol Petes and Kastmaster­s.

At UTE LAKE, fishing for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass was good using senkos, tubes, finesse worms and grubs. Fishing for white bass was good trolling crank baits near the trees in 10 to 12 feet of water. Fishing was good trolling crank baits and jigging with leeches in 12 to 18 feet of water for walleye. Fishing was good using stink bait and chicken liver in shallow water for catfish. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms under a bobber.

Fishing at EAGLE NEST LAKE for trout was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, Pistol Petes, Kastmaster­s and Platte River specials.

Fishing at CLAYTON LAKE was very good using assorted PowerBait for rainbow trout.

At NAVAJO LAKE, fishing was very good using brush hogs, worms, senkos, jigs, swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass.

Streamflow on the SAN JUAN RIVER from Navajo Reservoir on Monday was 4,650 cfs. Trout fishing from drift boats was fair to good using San Juan worms, egg patterns, woolly buggers, large bead-head pheasant tail nymphs and orange and red annelids.

At ELEPHANT BUTTE LAKE, fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, minnows and grubs for white bass.

Fishing at LAKE ROBERTS was very good using worms, senkos, tubes, grubs and crank baits for largemouth bass.

Trout fishing at SNOW LAKE was good using Pistol Petes, PowerBait and Fire Balls.

At ALTO LAKE, fishing was good using liver and night crawlers for catfish.

Fishing at OASIS PARK LAKE was very good using worms, homemade dough bait and blood baits for channel catfish up to 6 pounds.

At SANTA ROSA LAKE, fishing was good using senkos, tubes, swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass.
