DIG KUAUA!:
Through June 30, an archaeological dig and opportunity to be involved in researching ancient ruins at the Coronado Historic Site. The Office of Archaeological Studies will be performing archaeological investigations at CHS. The project will include hand-excavation of test units throughout Kuaua Pueblo and the surrounding refuse piles known as middens. Architecture dating to the 1500s will be unearthed. Docent led tours of the archaeological excavation and the painted kiva will occur on the hour. Tasks available to volunteers include sorting artifacts, screening sediments, ceramic analysis and light digging, under the supervision of a professional archaeologist. ONCE UPON A SLEEPY TIME PAJAMA DRIVE:
Rio Rancho Libraries are partnering with Storehouse West to help the local community. Currently, the Kids’ Closet has a need for children’s pajamas. Through July 26, donate a pair of new or gently used pajamas for children, ages toddler to teen. PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT:
Take a drive around Rio Rancho and see if you can spot the buildings featured in our Photo Scavenger Hunt. Photos will be displayed in the Loma Colorado Main Library and at riorancholibraries.org. ART EXHIBITIONS/MUSEUM CAROLYN PETERSON CHINESE SPLASH PAINTINGS:

INDIAN PUEBLO CULTURAL CENTER:
Two new temporary exhibits have opened. To design “Long Ago,” stories from each Pueblo across the region were collected in an effort to reflect the people’s diversity and demonstrate their wisdom. “Long Ago” leads visitors into the second exhibit, “Pueblo People & Our Modern Environment,” which explores the people’s direct relationship with Mother Earth through agriculture. “Pueblo People & Our Modern Environment” will run through September 2017 and “Long Ago” will run through July 2018. REIMAGINED:
Books will be seen a whole new light-from sculptural forms to admire, to handmade journals ready to preserve fondest memories.
