Thomas Burel Bailey, 68, of Albuquerqu­e, NM passed away, Monday, June 12, 2017 at his home after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, June 24th, 2017 at Desert Greens Golf Course 10035 Country Club Ln NW, Albuquerqu­e, NM 87114. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Those wishing to sign Tom’s guestbook may do so at www.yourtribut­e.com

Tom was born on November 23, 1948 in Kansas City, KS, to Burel and Dorothy Bailey. Tom graduated from Washington High School in the fall of 1967 and, shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Tom was deployed to Vietnam where he bravely served our country through 2 tours of duty. Tom achieved the rank of Sergeant and received a Purple Heart.

On January 28, 1982, in Kansas City, MO, Tom married the love of his life, Cathy Elizabeth Glandon. Tom and Cathy moved to Albuquerqu­e, NM in 1984 and Tom opened B & T Roof Truss with his father that same year. After his father’s retirement, Tom and Cathy ran the business together until his death. Tom was well known in the custom home building industry in Albuquerqu­e as the guy who could make any roof work and who could always be counted on to deliver exactly what he promised. He was an avid golfer and could be found most Sunday’s out on the course with his buddies. He enjoyed driving his yellow, Z06 Corvette and spending time with his wife, his children and his grandchild­ren.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Cathy Bailey; his three daughters, Jamie Hoggarth and her husband Josh, Amanda Rahtz and her husband Andy, and Stacy Mendes and her husband Jason; his four grandchild­ren whom he adored, Elle and Emily Rahtz and Chloe and Sophia Mendes; and his three favorite dogs, Bo, Bentley, and Walter. He is also survived by his brother Chase Bailey and his wife Kit of Portsmouth, NH; brother George Bailey and his wife Karen of Albuquerqu­e, NM; sister Barbara Young of Edgewood, NM and sister Eva Sheffield of Phoenix, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burel and Dorothy Bailey.
