CONSIDERING THE problem of car thefts in Albuquerque, perhaps the requirement of security cameras in motel and hotel parking lots and theater parking lots would be a good idea since many of the thefts occur in these places. DJB

WHY ARE the sidewalks the filthiest in the state? Since the mayor doesn’t care about the impression this city leaves upon visitors of this once fine city, would business owners consider maintaining the sidewalks in front of their businesses? Maybe enjoy a fractionary tax break for participating in this idea? BSR

DID ANYONE notice the biggest change in the Cuba policy by Trump was to cut out his competitors in the hotel business? No self interest here you say! Wait for the announcement of a new Trump hotel in Havana! RLE

WHY HIRE more police when so many cases are being dismissed on technicalities or not even brought to trial? What’s needed is more help on the prosecution and courtroom end. They’ve been overwhelmed for a long time. PK

SQUATTERS, HOMELESS moving in next door. Upscale neighbor house vacant. Recently, three or four people forced entry in back, sliding door. Inside found trash, needles, candle-wax on floor. This should not be in any neighborhood. Proper city authorities notified. No action taken due to limited city budget. Squatters becoming more bold and aggressive. Need a solution. JS

THANKS FOR the editorial advocating for a breast-feeding mother in Friday’s Journal. However, alleging that a “complication” arising from nursing a child during family visits may affect the “comfort level of other visitors” is ridiculous! If you don’t want to see it, don’t look! WHILE I firmly believe service animals are necessary, I absolutely DO NOT believe they should be allowed in grocery carts at stores! Service animals are HIGHLY trained and should be on leashes walking next to their owner. Putting them in grocery carts is disgusting and unsanitary and should be against some sort of health law. CC

THE STATE of New Mexico voted to defund many autism programs, like Camp Rising Sun, and this angers me beyond belief. Children do not ask to be born with autism, yet my tax dollars go to so many programs where individuals make poor choices that I’m stuck paying for. JR

SUNDAY JOURNAL article “BRAC review appears likely.” A review of military bases, reduction, consolidation ordered by President Trump. A potential threat to those thousands of New Mexicans employed and businesses providing support. I look to our illustrious leaders, (Gov. Susana) Martinez, (U.S. Sens. Tom) Udall (and Martin) Heinrich and (U.S. Rep. Michelle) Lujan-Grisham, all part of the resistance movement against this president. Once again New Mexico (is) on the wrong side. DAG
