Prince Royce hits Sandia Amphitheater; Freedom Fourth features Clint Black

- ADRIAN GOMEZ Arts Editor

Prince Royce grew up in Bronx, N.Y.

He often walked to the Bronx Walk of Fame, dreaming that one day his name would be there.

And he didn’t have to wait long. On May 21, the 28-year-old musician became the youngest to be inducted.

“It’s such an honor,” he says. “I grew up not to far from the Walk of Fame. I hope to continue to inspire people and youth. As crazy as it sounds, I remember walking there and thinking my name would be there one day. It was always a dream. That’s what I’ve been working towards since I was a teenager. It’s humbling, and I’m grateful.”

That’s just one part of Prince Royce’s spectacular 2017.

He released his album “Five,” which has already gone double platinum — selling more than 2 million copies.

The surge in his career was also helped by the single “Deja Vu,” which features Shakira.

“Seeing her sing and dance bachata for the first time was amazing,” he says. “I feel good how I’m representing myself in music. Proud to be doing what I love.”

Prince Royce will perform at Sandia Amphitheater on July 7. To read more, see Page 21.
