SPEAKUP! !?!

A $1,000 fine and mandatory one night in jail penalty would likely quickly resolve a good portion of the driving while-using-cell-phone problem. BPS

AFTER FORMER City Councilor Sally Mayer’s hard work rehabilitating the Hahn arroyo, lack of Parks and Recreation care has spawned a Siberian elm apocalypse! Thanks a lot, Mayor Tingley. Millions of dollars spent on a beautiful park on the verge of destruction. So sad. VH

I WAS watching “Live PD” on A&E, and the police in other states were pulling people over for taillights out, no lights on, speeding, failing to stop, improper turns, talking on their cell phone and failing to wear seat belts. I didn’t know those were chargeable offenses. WST

LOOKS LIKE there are rats in the pantry. Some states do not want to let the federal government verify voter roles. Figures. I tried to check if my dead father and mother were still voting in Orange County, Calif., but no luck. GWT

SOME SUPPORT de-funding Planned Parenthood to save the unborn from abortions. These same people want to cut Medicaid to 15 million of our most vulnerable citizens — low-income women and children, dooming millions of children to early deaths or suffering lifelong medical conditions, limiting their ability to lead productive lives. Go figure. RB

I HAVE a solution for hiring enough new policemen. Set up speed traps on Academy, Paseo and I-25 north to Bernalillo. That could raise enough money to hire a totally new police force. Add in ticketing people using their phones, and we could get them a completely new police car fleet. SS

I WANT to thank the persons who stole my 100-percent-disabled Vietnam veterans utility trailer from our yard by cutting the chain (that vet) put on it. He worked hard all his life unlike you who steal from people like him. Nice! PWD

I RECENTLY went to Coronado Center and couldn’t believe how aggressive and intimidating the kiosk vendors have been allowed to become. They follow you to the point of entry of your destination while asking constant questions. Coronado Management needs to enforce strict rules on them ASAP. Not going back! JES

PLEASE TELL me that the story about the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce giving the mayor an award for crime fighting is “fake news.” It can’t possibly be true! WDL

MEDICAID, AS currently designed, is not sustainable. Realistic changes must be made to continue services to children and the truly disabled. Monthly cash payments for “self-directed care” is not a good use of Medicaid dollars. Democrats, you can’t keep giving everything to everyone for free. DP

LETTER TUESDAY June 27 headlined “Obstruction of justice clearly occurred.” Somebody please tell this fellow that Richard Nixon was NOT impeached. He resigned before that could happen. Only two presidents have been impeached — Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. Study your history before you write! PAW
