KINDRED SPIRITS ANIMAL SANCTUARY: Annual Art Show Fundraiser, is 10 a.m. Aug. 5. Visit with the animals, enjoy the artwork and meet many of the artists. This year featuring a great variety of art including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, carvings, folk art, wearable art and more. Each creation is generously donated by local animal-loving artists and every penny goes to wellness care for our senior animals. Plant-based refreshments provided. PATHWAYS ACADEMY: is seeking sponsors for its Seventh Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit the Scholarship Fund for Autistic and Special Needs Children on Saturday, Aug. 26, at Tierra del Sol Golf Club in Belen. The mission of Pathways Academy, a private nonprofit 501(c)(3), is to provide a loving, nurturing learning environment for children grades K-12 with learning differences. REFUGEE SUPPORT: is looking for volunteers for two programs: 1) Youth Mentoring: those interested in working with refugee children can be matched for a year-long commitment to a refugee child, ages 9-17 years, and/or assist in our homework clubs held in three schools in the fall, and 2) Team Refugee: volunteers form groups of five from your community to be matched with a refugee family to practice English, find jobs, and help with cultural orientation. Seniors and families each receive 35-100 pounds of food at an average cost to the pantry of $25 per household. Over 343,000 pounds of food has been distributed. CHILDREN’S GRIEF CENTER OF NEW
MEXICO: will be holding their August Bereavement Facilitator Training on Aug. 12 and 13. Registration deadline is Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. Volunteer Support Group Facilitators are the backbone of the program. They lead grief support groups for children, teens or adults, in the North Valley or Rio Rancho. Facilitators are trained, teamed up with more experience facilitators and supported by the staff. NEWSLINE FOR THE BLIND: The New Mexico Commission for the Blind is looking for volunteers in Albuquerque to contribute their voices to Newsline for the Blind. Newsline is an on-demand, dial-in newspaper service that provides free telephone access to newspapers and magazines for persons who are blind or visually impaired.
