Who owns Jets? Brady, Google says

League hits yet another Cowboy with suspension

- FROM JOURNAL WIRES

BOSTON — New England quarterback Tom Brady has had a lot of success over the years against the New York Jets, but he doesn’t technically own the AFC rival, despite a Google search glitch that listed him as the Jets owner.

The Boston Globe and Fox News report a search for “New York Jets owner” returned Brady as the top result Thursday. The glitch was fixed by the afternoon. Google declined comment on the issue.

Brady has a 23-7 record against the Jets since taking over as the Patriots starter in 2001. He’s also won five Super Bowls in that time, including last season’s victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

COWBOYS: While the year-long investigation of running back Ezekiel Elliott for domestic violence remains under review, per an NFL spokesman, the league suspended another member of the Dallas Cowboys.

Defensive end Damontre Moore has been suspended two games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, the NFL announced Friday. He may play in the preseason and practice with the team until the week leading up to the season opener.

The suspension does not come as a surprise to the Cowboys, as Moore was arrested for DWI while with the Seattle Seahawks last December. The team has trusted that Moore is headed in the right direction, which is why it signed him even after the arrest.

Still, Moore adds to the stench of suspensions that smeared the Cowboys of late. He joins defensive end David Irving, who will be suspended for the first four games of the season for using a banned substance.

Defensive end Randy Gregory has been suspended for a year for repeated violations of the drug policy.

In addition to Elliott, cornerback Nolan Carroll and linebacker Damien Wilson could possibly be add to the list. Carroll was arrested for DWI in Dallas in May. Wilson has two pending charges of aggravated felony assault, stemming from a July 4 arrest in Frisco, Texas.

Neither case has been set for a court date.

BRONCOS: Linebacker Shane Ray is out six to eight weeks with a torn ligament in his left wrist.

A first-round draft pick in 2015, Ray got hurt Thursday but played through the injury and practiced again Friday with a brace. He fell on the braced wrist during one of the final drills of the day and was sent for X-rays.

He’ll have surgery today, and coach Vance Joseph said he’s hoping Ray will return by the team’s game at Buffalo on Sept. 24.

Ray was the second key Broncos player sidelined since players reported to training camp. Running back Devontae Booker underwent wrist surgery Friday to repair a bone that he broke during OTAs in June but that was misdiagnosed as a sprain

VIKINGS: Left tackle Riley Reiff has been missing from practice due to an undisclosed injury. He left the field on a cart during the first full-team practice of training camp Thursday and was not present Friday. Coach Mike Zimmer declined to divulge the injury, but he said he doesn’t believe it’s serious.

Reiff, who signed a fiveyear contract worth as much as $58.75 million with $26.3 million guaranteed with the Vikings, left the Detroit Lions as a free agent. GIANTS: Entering his 14th season, the 36-yearold quarterback Eli Manning just smiled Friday when asked about the number and comments by general manager Jerry Reese that the two-time Super Bowl MVP will be on somewhat of a pitch count in training camp.

“I know how old I am,” Manning said after the Giants held their first training camp workout. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being 36. I’m proud of it.”
