YEAH, Coach Marc Hsu showed no loyalty to the UNM basketball program and to the man who hired him. Oh, wait! Isn’t that what the current UNM coach did to NMSU? Ah yes, that’s why NMSU Aggie basketball fans call UNM’s current basketball coach “The Traitor”. — Disgusted Aggie Fan

THE JOURNAL reports that Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort wants to have an exhibition game or two here in Albuquerque at “The Lab”. From what he has been quoted as saying in the Journal, I think the man wants to stall the process of getting it done. If it’s so hard to find an opponent wanting to do the gig, I propose they have a game (I would prefer a threegame series) between the Rockies and the Isotopes. What’s the problem Mr. Monfort? Find the Branch Rickey in you. — Charles Digneo

HOPEFULLY ALL of the Rocky Long bashers saw the picture in Wednesday’s Journal of a full house at University Stadium. Yes, that’s somewhat what it was like when the Lobos were defeating Arizona, Missouri, Texas Tech, Utah and BYU, among others. I guess we’ll never know the complete Long/Paul Krebs story. What we do know is that when Rocky took the UNM job, he said he wouldn’t leave until he was run off — and that Krebs gambled on Mike Locksley and lost. Bob Davie has done a commendable job reconstructing the ruins placed before him. — Joseph

RULE PROPOSALS: If a batter swings at a pitch, and the bat ends up in the stands, he’s out. If the bat draws blood, the game is forfeited. And get rid of the batting gloves during the game. A player only bats four, maybe five times a game, not enough to cause blisters. — jimm soxx

PATRICIA MURPHY, stop laughing. The Dallas Cowboys have more SUSPENDED PLAYERS than any other team in the NFL. — MHD

COME ON NMAA! Not a great way to run the All Star Basketball games. $7, period. No military or senior discounts. No in-and-out privileges and a lousy junk food snack bar. The Eldorado gym was a sauna that smelled like mold. Thanks do go to the student athletes, many playing their last competitive BB game ever, who played their hearts out. — RR
