Green, Martha Tracey "Happy"

-

Born on Sept 21, 1923 as Martha Green, better known as “Happy” to all her friends and family, she made it a point to live up to her name.

Happy Tracey passed away peacefully on July 27, 2017 surrounded by family at her children’s home, where she spent much of her later life.

Born in San Antonio, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin where she fell in love with our dad, William A. Tracey. They enjoyed life to the fullest, dancing and living the dream.

While dad served our country as a Pilot in WWII, mom packed parachutes for the war effort & that fashioned her life as a volunteer. They started their married life in the oil business in west Texas and work led them to New Mexico where they raised their three children, made many friends and continued to enjoy their happy lives.

Mom was preceded in death by our dad, William A. Tracey & her daughter, (our sister) Sharon Pieper.

She is survived by her son, William J. Tracey and wife Harriett and grandson Will; son-in-law, Terry Pieper; daughter Sally Tracey Adams & her husband, Ken & grandaughter, Tracey Pope and her husband Joseph Pope and greatgrandaughter, (Happy’s pride and joy), Bailey.

All who knew her loved her humor and generosity. A wonderful mom and caring friend, she loved animals and passed away with her little dog, Tommy at her side.

We would like to thank the outstanding team at Hospice of New Mexico for their support & guidance.

Mom will be interred at Santa Fe Nat’l Cemetery in a private ceremony where she rejoins our dad for their next journey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lap Dog Rescue of New Mexico or Hospice of New Mexico.
