Monska, Carl D.
Carl D. Monska, age 76, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 27, 2017.
Carl was born November 24, 1940 and graduated from Lakeview High School, attended Southern Illinois University and served in the US Army 1964 – 1966. His working career began with Montgomery Ward where he worked in credit management with Wards spending time in Decatur, IL, Dubuque, IA and finally in Denver, CO. It was at Wards where he met the love of his life, Linda, and they were married September 7, 1968. Carl left Wards in 1983, and started a second career as a financial consultant with Aid Association for Lutherans which later became Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. He always enjoyed this career where he met new people many who became clients and remained good friends throughout his retirement years. He was a lifelong Lutheran more importantly he had a strong faith in God, and was active in all churches where he was a member most recently Redeemer Lutheran Church. Carl was an avid golfer and belonged to the Los Altos and Arroyo del Oso golf associations where he enjoyed playing in the golf tournaments. A longtime Chicago Cubs fan he got to see his wish come true when the Cubs won the World Series. Carl and Linda enjoyed traveling and any time spent with their granddaughters. He enjoyed reading any and all subjects, and was a running enthusiast doing that regularly for over 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Carl is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Doug; daughter-in-law, Julie; granddaughters, Cassidy, Caitlyn, and Clair all of San Antonio, TX; brother, Paul (Marti) of Prescott, AZ; sister, Pam (Danny) Arvada, CO; and many nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 Alvarado Dr. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Interment will be held at a later date at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decatur, IL.
