Shrader, Marian Joyce

Marian Joyce Shrader, age 79, of Albuquerque, NM passed away from natural causes on the morning of Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at her home.

She was born in a small coal-mining town in West Virginia, the daughter of David N and Duvie Dare (Cook) Shrader. She is survived by brother, David Leroy Shrader of Bloomfield, IN, brother, Ernest Alvin Shrader and sister-in-law Bobette, and brother, Darryl Shrader, all of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Elizabeth Dare (Nance) Roberts of Holliday, TX; daughter Maggie (Nance) Klappauf and son-in-law Craig Klappauf; son, Owen Newton and daughter-in-law Diane Bolton; daughter Alana Jean (Newton) LamBear and son-in-law James Dendy; all of Albuquerque, and son, Abishua Newton of Rieglewood, NC. She had nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Peter D. Nance, and her husband, Alan Herbert Newton.

She had retired after serving many years as a special education teacher both in Texas, and in Albuquerque. She was a master seamstress and spent many years as a wardrobe mistress for several production companies in Albuquerque, having received her Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts from UNM in 1989. She had been a resident of both Encino Towers and Encino Gardens and had many friends in both places. She enjoyed organizing and attending events with her friends. She loved reading science fiction and was an original Trekie.

A memorial service in her honor will take place on Saturday August 5, 2017 from 1:00-2:23 at Encino Gardens, 412 Alvarado Dr. SE, Albuquerque NM 87108.
