Dodgers continue to do no wrong, win 7th straight

LOS ANGELES — Rich Hill pitched twohit ball into the sixth inning, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Francisco Giants 2-1 Saturday for their seventh consecutiv­e victory.

Corey Seager had three hits and Cody Bellinger drove in two runs as major leaguelead­ing Los Angeles won for the 38th time in 44 games. At 73-31, the Dodgers are 42 games over .500 for the first time since finishing 102-60 in 1974.

Hill (8-4) struck out three and walked two in 5⅔ innings. The oft-injured left-hander improved to 4-0 with a 1.45 ERA in five July starts.

Seager doubled in the first and third innings, scoring each time on a Bellinger single. Seager also singled in the fifth for his 29th multihit game this season.

ROCKIES 4, NATIONALS 2: In Washington, German Marquez carried a perfect game into the sixth, Trevor Story homered and Colorado beat Washington in a matchup of playoff contenders.

Marquez (9-4) set down his first 16 batters before allowing three hits in a span of four hitters in the sixth inning. The right-hander struck out a career-high 10.

CUBS 2, BREWERS 1 (11): In Milwaukee, Jason Heyward homered in the 11th inning, and Chicago beat the Brewers to to strengthen their hold on first place in the NL Central.

Kris Bryant had three hits, including a tying RBI single in the seventh inning, as the Cubs improved to 12-3 since the All-Star break.

TIGERS 5, ASTROS 3: In Detroit, Jose Iglesias had two RBI doubles as the Tigers rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat Houston.

Iglesias is hitting .364 with four doubles, a homer and 11 RBIs in his last 14 games, raising his batting average from .239 to .261.

RED SOX 9, ROYALS 8 (10): In Boston, Sandy Leon slid into home plate and avoided catcher Drew Butera’s tag on Eduardo Nunez’s ground out in the 10th inning, lifting Boston and ending Kansas City’s ninegame winning streak.

Nunez also hit two solo homers over the Green Monster for the Red Sox.

YANKEES 5, RAYS 4: In New York, the latest hit by Brett Gardner produced another walkoff win for the Yankees.

Gardner hit an RBI single with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, sending the AL East leaders over Tampa Bay for their sixth straight win.

Chase Headley and Gary Sanchez hit long home runs for New York. The contending Rays lost their sixth straight game at Yankee Stadium.

MARINERS 3, METS 2: In Seattle, Yovani Gallardo took a shutout into the sixth inning and Seattle ended the eight-game winning streak of New York starter Jacob deGrom.

De Grom (12-4), bidding to become the first Mets pitcher to win nine consecutiv­e starts in a single season, suffered his first loss since June 6.

ANGELS 6, BLUE JAYS 5: In Toronto, Cliff Pennington drove in the tiebreakin­g run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth for Los Angeles, which rallied past the Blue Jays.

Trailing 5-3 against Toronto closer Roberto Osuna (3-1), the Angels took the lead with a three-run ninth.

PADRES 4, PIRATES 2: In San Diego, Dinelson Lamet pitched two-hit ball into the seventh inning and fellow rookie Manuel Margot homered and scored twice, leading the Padres past Pittsburgh for San Diego’s fourth straight win and the Pirates’ fourth straight loss.

ORIOLES 4, RANGERS 0: In Arlington, Texas, Adrian Beltre singled to get within one hit of 3,000 for his career, and had two chances after that to get to 3,000, but grounded out in the sixth and again in the ninth for the Rangers in their loss to Baltimore.

Kevin Gausman (8-7) went 8⅔ innings to win his fifth consecutiv­e decision over seven starts. Zach Britton converted his 56th straight save chance.

INDIANS 5, WHITE SOX 4: In Chicago, pinch-hitter Brandon Guyer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning for the go-ahead run and Cleveland won its ninth consecutiv­e game.

Indians starter Corey Kluber struck out 12. The White Sox are 1-14 in their last 15 games. MARLINS 7, REDS 3: In Miami, Adam Conley pitched 7⅔ innings and won consecutiv­e starts for the first time this season, Christian Yelich hit a three-run homer and Miami beat reeling Cincinnati.

PHILLIES 4, BRAVES 3 (11): In Philadelph­ia, Ty Kelly singled home the winning run with two outs in the 11th to lift Philadelph­ia. Odubel Herrera hit a tying home run with one out in the ninth off Braves closer Jim Johnson.

DIAMONDBAC­KS 7, CARDINALS 1: In St. Louis, Zack Greinke gave up a run and three hits to the first three batters he faced. After that he gave up just one more hit in his seven innings to lead Arizona over the Cards.

Greinke (13-4) improved to 5-0 in his last six starts.
