Resurrect Learn to Earn principle

-

WHILE OUR state is No. 1 in systemically teaching the entitlement mindset, it is quite clear that any involvement with health care should be in the hands of the consumer, not the federal government. Those of us who pay for it by saving or preparing a budget that includes insurance in one form or another are carrying the load for all, and the federal government is clearly complicit in this control-based socialistic approach.

The present system not only fails, but forces penalties and fees on people who just want control their own destiny. It’s ridiculous to think that adding another layer — the government at any level frankly — to what is a personal responsibility will be cheaper. Our society and the world embraces competition; switching to a one-size-fits-all system takes away my right to select what I want for myself.

Obamacare has completely failed, and ignores the rights and liberties of middle-class working people and it has to be repealed. We need to return to a system that rewards those who pay, plan and work, making personal responsibility and pride in oneself an expectation. Of note, those who cannot address health care in a reasonable manner can and should be assisted — the elderly and very young, and those who do require temporary assistance — but over 60 percent of those on Medicaid could and should be working in one form or another and paying for their chosen lifestyle.

I completely trust U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce, R-N.M., will continue to press toward resolution of a failed Obamacare system by repealing it and placing the responsibility where it should be — on each of us as citizens, and let the freemarket approach thrive. He understands the system and what a miserable failure it was for New Mexicans. Let’s resurrect the Learn to Earn principle of success. My hope is that the Senate can move toward a path which does what was promised: Repeal Obamacare and find a common-sense solution which consistently reinforces (a) system of achievement and personal pride.
