Corrales bike tour offers wine tastings, live music
It’s the perfect time for the Corrales Bike & Wine Tour this weekend.
A majority of the wineries along the route will be offering newly bottled wines for tasting and buying.
“A lot of the wineries, because it’s just at the harvest time, a lot of them bottled the past couple months, so they’ll be able to try new bottles at a majority of the wineries as well,” event organizer Dana Koller said.
The tour is held twice a year, and Koller continues to see many people return.
“We always try to make slight changes, so we’re going to try to put some fun information along the trail,” Koller said. “I don’t know if we’re going to do jokes or whatever, but kind of guiding people from one area to another. The actual route itself will be the same as in April, but to kind of encourage some changes and things, we have new music that will be hosted at the end of the event.”
Casa Abril Winery of Algodones will be pouring its wines at the starting and ending point, Casa Vieja. Participants also will be greeted with the sweet jazz sounds of Ed Cohen at the end of the ride.
Also featured on the tour will be Acequia Winery, Corrales Winery and Pasando Tiempo, along the Corrales Loop. Participants will be given a map at registration. There will be directions along the route, and cyclists can ride at their own leisure. Tour staff also will pick up purchased wines and deliver the bottles to participants’ cars so they can enjoy the tour without hauling the bottles around.
