Filomena "Mena" Chavez passed away quietly on August 13, 2017 at home surrounded by family. She was born in Seboyeta to Eutimo Chavez and Jesusita Anzures families. Filomena enjoyed crocheting, quilts and loved to make tortillas. She was a lifetime member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank G. Chavez; her parents; six siblings; aunts, uncles and two children, Baby Chavez and Romancitio Chavez.

Filomena is survived by her children, Tony Chavez (Lucinda), JoAnn Lyons (Michael), Tim Chavez (Alice), Yvonne Sandlin (Tom), Frank A. Chavez, Marie Cox (Richard); 22 grandchild­ren; 32 great-grandchild­ren; seven great-great-grandchild­ren and two pets, Joscita and Charley.

Visitation will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW , Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 8:00 am to 8:30 am with a Rosary to follow at 8:30 am. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearer­s will be Christophe­r Chavez, Joey Escudero, Anthony Archibeque, Nicholas Iverson, Frankie D. Chavez and William Cox. Honorary Bearers are her 23 grandsons. A special thanks to her caregivers, Frank A. Chavez, Brenda Gutierrez and her hospice nurse Tamar Tyler. Thank you to all friends, relatives and extended family that came to visit.
