TURNING TIDE: It’s been some time since Santa Fe High School has been relevant in soccer, but the Demons’ fortunes just may be changing as they came away with a 1-all draw against powerful Santa Fe Prep on Tuesday. Winners of two of the past three 1A-4A boys state championships, the Blue Griffins had to come from behind to earn the equalizer.

BOBCATS ON THE MOVE: McCurdy was forced to find new practice digs this week as the gym was undergoing renovations. The Bobcats eventually found a new, temporary home at Northern New Mexico College.

OUTDOORS: Enjoy the great outdoors for free today as the National Park Service celebrates its 101st birthday. Visitors get free access to Bandelier National Monument, Aztec Ruins National Monument, Capulin Volcano National Monument, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Chaco Culture National Historical Park, Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and White Sands National Monument.
RUNNING: Coming up quick on the outside, the Santa Fe Thunder HalfMarathon is scheduled for Sept. 17. The course visits Pojoaque Pueblo, passes Camel Rock, slides through Tesuque Pueblo and passes the Santa Fe Opera. For more information, see santafethunder.com.
GOLF: Hit the links for a good cause Sept. 15 for the Pueblo de San Ildefonso, which is raising money for the San Ildefonso Youth Club. SOFTBALL: Batter up for the first fall softball league in Taos. Eight men’s and women’s teams are sought for the league that will play Wednesdays and Thursdays at Filemón Sanchez Park. MORE GOLF: The 20th anniversary of the Fore Kids Golf Tournament will be celebrated today at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe. Created by former city councilors Peso Chavez and Molly Whitted, the tournament has brought much-needed recognition to the youth of our city by generating revenue to create scholarships for local youths at the golf course and the Genoveva Chavez Community Center.
