HIS OWN WAY

Electro house DJ Morgan Page refuses to follow trends

- BY ADRIAN GOMEZ

Morgan Page and high-quality music go hand in hand. The 36-year-old progressive electro house DJ and producer is constantly working on new music.

Case in point: “I’m just wrapping up the next year’s worth of music,” he says in a recent phone interview. “There’s a lot of new collaborations, and it’s a lot of work to get all the scheduling down. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Page has traveled the world carving out a niche for himself in the electronic dance music scene.

He’s remixed for a lot of musicians, and he received a Grammy nomination in 2011.

Page turns to his social media pages to stay in touch with his fans.

This is also a chance for him to try out new technology.

He recently went on Facebook Live and did a demonstration with a 360-degree camera.

“I really like that there are different ways to reach your fans,” he says. “These are direct ways to get to them and give them a glimpse into your everyday life.”

Page is known for a variety of singles, though his 2008 single, “The Longest Road” is his most successful.

At his performances, he’s seen a change in the audiences.

“I think with streaming being the most popular way people are consuming music, they are finding my older music,” he says. “So with the sets, I’ve been able to play anything from really new material to my older stuff. It’s given me a chance to get the set really well-rounded. And the audience is responding because they’ve heard it before.

Page is most proud of staying in his own lane with music.

He’s not one to follow trends in music, and he recently released a single called

“Fight My Way.”

“I’m really excited about creating music that is original,” he says. “When it comes to collaborations, I’m looking for the voices that haven’t been tapped into yet. Working with someone that is established is great, but you have to jump through so many hoops. The vocalists today sound a lot like each other. I want to find the voices that are different. I want both of us to elevate the music together.”

If Page weren’t in music, he could see himself doing something outdoors.

“I’m a big runner and enjoy a lot of outdoor stuff,” he says. “I would be an outdoor tour guide.”
