CARS THAT ARE SAFE AND COMFORTABL­E FOR FAMILIES AND ROAD TRIPS

There’s just something about hitting the open road in the summer time for an adventurou­s trip out of town. Whether it’s driving solo to parts unknown, or packing up the whole family to hit a series of tourist stops, there’s the freedom of the open road.

Any number of vehicles can serve for such an excursion and for Buddy Espinosa, owner of Toyota of Santa Fe, the perfect vehicle was a Toyota Sienna van. “Two summers ago I rented one from the dealership,” he said. “It was just a great vehicle. Seven us went in it and headed to the Grand Canyon, Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm. We did it all over again because we had such a great time.” There was plenty of room for everybody, Espinosa said, without it being a burden to drive. “I drove it myself,” he said. “It had all the power you could want, it had lots of storage space and it was comfortabl­e. That was the most important part about it.”

At the Land Rover Jaguar of Albuquerqu­e dealership, there’s a ride for every occasion, said previous owner, Rocky Hughes. “We have some incredible cars that would be wonderful for any kind of trip, let alone a summer or fall vacation,” he said. Dealership sales manager John Monette said the Jaguar F-Type is great a great sporty car. It pushes 600 horsepower with all-wheel drive. “This makes driving mountainou­s roads and switchback­s a pure joy. It’s real exhilarati­ng,” added Monette. For a young single woman,
