Kathryn McKenna Philipbar (Bunny), January 23rd, 1937 – August 17th, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her son Dennis A. Philipbar, her parents, Louise Kitson Duda, and Michael Duda. Survived by her children, Brian Philipbar, Corrales, NM, Glenn Philipbar (Bernadette), Paradise, TX, Denise Philipbar (Michael Snell), Pennsylvania, Cynthia Kocurek (Anthony), Corrales, NM, Sheri Owen (Derren), Corrales, NM; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Born in Newark, NJ - Kathy started dancing as a small child – even appearing on stage at Radio City New York. Her passion for dance led her to own her own dance studios where she became known for her grandiose productions of the Nutcracker.

A tiny woman with a big heart, and an even bigger personality that often entered the room before she did. She was passionate about her family, always being the one to stick up for the underdog when someone was in need of a fierce defender.

Kathy and Dennis were married after he charmed her when he picked her up in his ’48 Studebaker in 1954. In 1971, the family left Caldwell, NJ and headed west for a new adventure in New Mexico. Kathy started a new career as one of Amrep Corporation’s first Tour Guides, enticing people to come to the Land of Enchantment.

Bunny and Dennis’s love affair lasted for 61wonderful years. Until the day she left us, those blue eyes would light up when he spoke to her and held her hand (Semper Fi).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of NM – special thanks to Dena and Michael for all their love and support.

A Catholic mass will be held for Kathy August 30th at 10:00 a.m. at San Ysidro Church in the Village of Corrales.
