Liberal actions have created the crime we now live with

- BY MARIE YORDY ALBUQUERQUE RESIDENT

I don’t understand the media’s sudden obsession with crime in Albuquerque. This has been present with us for as long as I can remember. It’s always been tsk-tsked away.

Yet this new attitude is so surprising. The media people always show up for every left-wing protest and mob get-together to egg on the actors and then act as if they had nothing to do with any flare up of hate that might occur. Of course, to paraphrase Rahm Emanuel, Barack Obama’s former chief of staff, a riot is a terrible thing to waste. And, by golly, our TV screens are filled with unwasted footage. Unbridled anger seems to be OK.

On the other side, our politicians here have decided to ignore our Constitution and federal law by tacitly or overtly promoting sanctuary cities. They set the example as to whether the law should be obeyed. And apparently it need not be.

Over the years I’ve also seen disrespect for authority quietly sown in our government-run schools. Every school child shows up with a chip on his shoulder and an ACLU lawyer at his side. Our universities decide what freedom of speech means when they do nothing as violent protests and threats greet many invited speakers. Our streets fill with hateful people from both places whenever it is decided to show contempt for our president. Unreasonable and made-up slights and accusations ferment through our city.

All of this is aided by a welfare system that promotes sloth and rewards child neglect. When dad is a state bureaucrat, you can be sure all rods will be spared to spoil the rat-tailed children we are raising. And we willingly accept their drug use and gang membership as something families can do nothing about. Heaven forbid they raise their voice against it. That would be considered child abuse by our Democrat Party judges who run the show.

But what moral authority is there to hinder criminals from their activity? Even traffic laws go unenforced. If you can’t stop a speeder, why would a thug think twice about breaking any law he pleases? Murder, rape, robbery, assault, theft, drug peddling and more pass over our city, waved on by a cavalier and permissive middle finger.

To be sure, even religion has been put in its place. Liberals loudly demanded separation of church and state, thus putting an end to having or developing a conscience. Hedonism and personal appetite override the responsibility of adulthood. We have morality by consensus like we have science by consensus. Black and white has been replaced by a lighter shade of beige.

There’s no guilt to suppress one’s baser instincts anymore and thus nobody can tell anybody what to do anymore, not even God . ...

We’ve fashioned our own hell and we’ve fashioned our own hand basket. Albuquerque and New Mexico are well on the way to creating the perfect liberal society. And, oh, how grand it’s going to be.
