SPEAKUP! !?!

I’D LIKE to publicly thank Larry Chavez of Dreamstyle Remodeling for generously hosting the recent minireunion for the Valley High School Class of 1965. It was, like its predecessor two years ago, a great evening of old friends seeing one another again, music, food and libations. All that was asked was a voluntary contribution to the reunion fund. Just one more way that Larry contributes to the community. GC

I THINK the Nobel committee might want to consider JJ Watt for a Nobel Peace Prize this year for all the money he’s raised for Houston in the aftermath of Harvey. He certainly deserves it more than President Obama when he got his peace prize. SS

WITH ALL the “things to do” that the Congress has facing it when it comes to holidays, they get to take 10 days or two weeks off when the working stiff gets ONE day. Think we should start paying these people, both parties, by the hour and only for work actually done in D.C. — they only work three days a week now. Three workers opened fire, killing one, but, sadly, missed the other. New motto? TB, safest place in town! BM HILLARY CLINTON probably spent a couple weeks composing a book blaming most of the people in our country for her embarrassing election results. The name of the book: “What Happened.” The answer: People finally woke up. RDH

WHAT THE heck is with APS in letting these kids out to demonstrate against DACA? I hope the principal got all their names (and) tells them they have to come to school Saturday. Pay the teachers a day’s pay at time-and-a-half and then send the bill to the parents. Won’t hold my breath waiting for it to happen, don’t believe anyone in the school system has a backbone any more. WJK

IN AN emergency situation it is heartbreaking to see looting. Disgusting, and before the storm hits, they should be warned that looters will be shot on sight. I am not a gun nut, but I think looting in an emergency is just the end of the line and the bottom of the barrel. CE
