Native Americans accept racial diversity

Fences, walls are concepts imposed by Europeans

- BY O. TACHEENI SCOTT FLAGSTAFF RESIDENT

... Yes, the (president’s border) wall idea is purely political, as it always has (been) since 1492, when the Spanish explorers asked New World natives, “Whose land is this?” when they looked for stone fences/ walls which weren’t there. The natives simply said, “No one.” When the foreigners asked, “Why?” the locals once again answered simply, “All of us own it —together.”

As a full-blooded Dineh (Navajo) I am keenly aware that mestizos resulted from the genetic mixing of male-gender European blood with female-gender Native American blood in the purely biological generational-generation process known as sex. The males resulting from such unions receive less than half of the total genetic complement at fertilization. Thirteen genes known as mitochondrial-DNA in all mammals are inherited from mothers only — as they are intrinsic with the cytoplasm of a fertilized egg cell — making modern-day Mexican women “moreNative American” than Mexican men, who are “more-European” as phenotypically evidenced by having a generous amount of facial hair. My moustache consists of 22 hairs, which are tweezer-pulled periodically because of the prodding of my Scottish wife of 49 years.

So, fences and walls have always been the result of European influence — as Trump is of European ancestry. The people in question are simply “guilty” of moving from one portion of their original homeland to another portion of homeland real estate stolen in the 15th century. Those of us of Native ancestry in modern-day America ... already are openly welcoming our fellow Native Americans of mixed blood. In fact, a large clan of the Dineh Nation is called nakai, meaning “Mexican.” Ramon Nakai served as two-term Chairman of the Dineh Nation in the 1960s.

Mr. Trump, put that in your pipe and smoke it!
