Joan Henderson

Joan Henderson,

95, passed away October 2, 2017, born in Manchester England on April 2, 1922 to

John and Ada Winterbottom. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Henderson and two sons, Richard Henderson and baby William Henderson. She leaves a daughter, Lesley Osborne of Albuquerque, NM and four grandchildren, Cameron Osborne and wife, Alicia of Albuquerque, Gregory Osborne and wife, Valerie of Aberdeen, NC, Alan Henderson and Dawn Hill of Humble, TX, and five great-grandchildren, Geoffrey, Benjamin, Monique, Illiana, and Anthony Osborne.

Joan attended URI and BC and was licensed in both nursing and physical therapy. She worked for the state of Rhode Island in communicable disease hospital during the polio epidemic, she then spent years doing physical therapy which she dearly loved. She was president of RI Physical Therapy Society, president of the business and professional women’s club of North Providence, RI and was president of Sandoval Civitan. She also volunteered at St. Felix Pantry for 10 years.

Joan requested there be no memorial service. She will go back to her beloved New England and be interned at Highland Memorial Park in Rhode Island.
