-

READING, Pa. — A backup QB for Division III Albright College in Pennsylvania has been cut for kneeling during the national anthem.

Sophomore Gyree Durante took a knee before Saturday’s game. He says he was “taught you fight for what you believe in and you don’t bow to anyone.”

The school says Durante was cut because he violated a team decision to show unity by kneeling during the coin toss, but standing during the anthem. SOUTH ALABAMA 19, TROY 8: In Troy, Ala., the visiting Jaguars (2-4, 1-1) upset Sun Belt rival Troy 19-8 despite rushing for only 48 yards on 44 carries. Troy (4-2, 1-1) was an 18-point favorite.
