Juanita "Jennie" Sanchez

Juanita Sanchez, known and loved by everyone as "Jennie", passed away on Oct 13, 2017 at the age of 83. She was born on November 13, 1933 in Estancia, NM to Francisco and Adela Maldonado. The family later moved to Albuquerqu­e, NM where Jennie graduated from the "original" Albuquerqu­e High School and took some college courses before starting her family with her beloved husband Edward A. Sanchez of Los Vigiles, NM. They were married on August 1, 1964 and spent 53 wonderful years together. Known for her "heart of gold" and being generous to a fault, Jennie’s friends and family can attest to her compassion, humility and selflessly putting everyone before herself. She was a devout Catholic, a devoted wife, mother and phenomenal grandma. Her hobbies included watching WWF wrestling, eating anything chocolate, cheering her grandkids on and being involved in family functions, often traveling hundreds of miles to visit loved ones.

Jennie is preceded in death by her brothers Pete and Max Maldonado; sister Romey Chaves and her only grandson, Brando Sanchez. She is survived by her husband, Edward A. Sanchez; her children, Sindy Sanchez, Gene Sanchez and wife Jessica and Judy Greene along with her granddaugh­ters, Kayla Montez and Delaney Sanchez.

All services will be held in Albuquerqu­e, NM on Thursday October 19, 2017. Visitation will be held at the Shrine of Saint Bernadette at 11509 Indian School Rd NE beginning at 8:00 AM, Rosary at 8:30 AM and Mass at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at 10:30 AM at Mount Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith NE. Reception will be nearby at American Legion Post 13 located at 1201 Mountain Rd NE.
