WITH UNM’S 38-0 loss to Fresno State and an 8:15 p.m. kickoff vs. Colorado State this Friday, it doesn’t look like a great combination for drawing a big crowd for this nationally televised contest. After the kneeling incident during the game vs. Air Force, new UNM athletic director Eddie Nuñez spoke of regaining the fans’ interest. For starters, Nuñez could announce that UNM will play “God Bless the U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood on their $1 million video scoreboard after the national anthem. Sell some tickets and get the crowd pumped up? It’s all good. — NM Old Timer

HEY ALBUQUERQUE, Los Lunas, Belen, Bernalillo, in fact, all of New Mexico! How about this: find an excuse to get to the game this Friday. It is (an ESPN2) national broadcast. Please, let’s all try to be there so we look good on national TV. — Rudy The Attorney

FIRST THE LOBOS take a knee before the flag, then they take a knee before Fresno State. Let’s see how these two kneel-downs affect attendance and the program, Coach D. This former fan is done. — Uptown Ed, former Lobo athletic supporter

UNM IS 0-3 This season against NMSU as the Aggies have won the head-to-head matchups in football, volleyball and women’s soccer. The next Lobo loss will be on Nov. 17 in men’s basketball when The Traitor returns to the Pan American Center. — Pistol Pete

UNM’S LOSS TO NMSU last month enabled Aggie coach Doug Martin to receive a 3 year contract extension. The 38-0 loss to Fresno State will give Bulldog coach Jeff Tedford MWC Coach of the Year honors after FSU’s 1-11 record last year. Hard to believe that the Lobos can score 56 points against Air Force and put up a goose egg against FSU. Even Nevada scored 21 points and San Jose State 10 against the Bulldogs. Scarier yet is the fact that Tedford might have shown everyone the blueprint to stop the Lobos’ option offense. — Lobo Statistician

IT SEEMS THAT Uptown Ed who wrote in discrediting US Soccer seems to have forgotten that the US Women’s National Team has been a dominate world soccer power for the last 30 years. They have won 3 world cups and are currently ranked number one in the world So, soccer moms, you can continue to take your kids to practice and games because the US can play soccer. — DHART - ABQ
