Time to pick up Eagles’ Agholor

Cowboys’ Morris also someone to consider

- BY EDDIE BROWN THE SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE

Each week I’ll list the best widely available free agents for fantasy football — I define “widely available” as being owned in around half of all ESPN or Yahoo leagues — and some guys who are probably better off in the free agent pool than collecting dust on your roster.

Here are my best bets for Week 7:

Add

WR NELSON AGHOLOR, Eagles (ESPN: 36 percent; Yahoo: 55 percent): Agholor is currently on pace for 850-plus receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

RB MATT BREIDA, 49ers (ESPN: 26 percent; Yahoo: 20 percent): Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Carlos Hyde trade rumors were “100 percent false” which means the Niners are definitely shopping Hyde. RB ALFRED MORRIS, Cowboys (ESPN: 44 percent; Yahoo: 55 percent) and RB Darren McFadden, Cowboys (ESPN: 50 percent; Yahoo: 52 percent): If you owned Ezekiel Elliott, you should have owned at least one of his backups. Elliott’s situation was decided in his favor, for now, on Tuesday night, but even if he can continue to play, Morris and McFadden deserve to be stashed. The Dallas run game is a very lucrative fantasy asset. RB D’ONTA FOREMAN, Texans (ESPN: 16 percent; Yahoo: 15 percent): Houston is on a bye this week, so it’s a good time to stash the talented rookie. Foreman has earned 10-plus carries in three of the last five games, putting him into some flex conversations already. He has RB1 upside if something happens to Lamar Miller. WR STERLING SHEPARD, Giants (ESPN: 60 percent, Yahoo: 52 percent): New York has a tough matchup against Seattle this week, but the schedule lightens up significantly after the bye. Shepard is talented enough to be the Giants top wide receiver and will deserve WR2 consideration going forward. TE TYLER KROFT, Bengals (ESPN: 8 percent; Yahoo: 11 percent): Kroft is Andy Dalton’s second option behind only A.J. Green.

Drop

RB ANDRE ELLINGTON, Cardinals: It was clear his role was reduced against Tampa Bay with Adrian Peterson adding a missing element to the Arizona offense. He’s only worth rostering in the deepest PPR leagues.

TE COBY FLEENER, Saints: After scoring in each of the first two games, Fleener only has three receptions and no scores over the last three games.

TE TYLER EIFERT, Bengals: This is the third time in four seasons Eifert has ended up on injured reserve. WR JAMISON CROWDER, Redskins: Washington planned on getting Crowder more involved against San Francisco, but he saw fewer targets than Jordan Reed, Vernon Davis and Chris Thompson in the short passing game. I’m sure he has a game or two in him, but there are receivers available on the wire with more upside. QB AARON RODGERS, Packers: For fantasy purposes, a broken collarbone has effectively ended Rodgers’ season.
