Improve your high desert soil by adding your own compost. Learn how to compost

food and yard waste, an easy and fun way to recycle and to build healthy soil in your yard and garden. The class will cover the science, art, methods, choices, and the benefits of home composting. GLASS FUSING CLASS: Basic introducti­on into glass cutting, tools safety. Discussion and design, technique and color. Participan­ts will produce a small design for an ornament jewelry or bowl. Taught by Gail Grambling Harrison, a glass fusion artist. Fee of $100, includes all supplies, tools and firing. Class size is limited to five adult students, 18 and older. LEARN THE UKULELE: Join us for a fun series of classes on learning the ukulele. Auttem Foglia will give you an introducti­on to this great instrument, including where and how to play, how to tune and get you started on learning songs. This is a four-week class. Register for the first and you’ll be automatica­lly registered for the others. You don’t need to know how to read music. NAMI FRIENDS AND FAMILY

SEMINAR: A four-hour seminar that informs and supports people who have loved ones with a mental health condition. Participan­ts will learn about diagnoses, treatment, recovery, communicat­ion strategies, crisis preparatio­n and National Alliance on Mental Illness resources. The seminar is free, but space is limited. Additional seminars will be added monthly, so check back if a seminar you find is already at capacity. This seminar will be held Nov. 18, from noon-4 p.m., at the Sabana Grande Recreation Center, 4110 Sabana Grande Ave. SE, Rio Rancho.
