In our cover story, Assistant Arts Editor Kathaleen Roberts introduces Roberto Minczuk, the new music director of the New Mexico Philharmon­ic.

The Brazilian-born conductor comes to New Mexico with an impressive résumé, having led orchestras around the world, including in Canada, Brazil, Israel, London and Tokyo.

Roberts also previews two upcoming Philharmon­ic events, “The Music of Led Zeppelin” on Saturday at Popejoy Hall and Albuquerqu­e pianist Joshua Rupley performing Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto on Nov. 19 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.

Wesley Pulkka reviews two shows at the Mariposa Gallery: Greg Tucker’s paintings and sculpture and Jill Erickson’s drawings and collage.

Features writer Elaine D. Briseño writes about the Humans of New Mexico project. Founder Rafael Martinez chronicles the stories of ordinary New Mexicans. “I wanted to showcase or present a different side of New Mexico,” he says. David Steinberg reviews Steven F. Havill’s latest mystery, “Easy Errors.” Havill calls the new book a “preprequel” to his popular Posadas County series.
