CATCHES OF THE WEEK

Nick Massey of Los Lunas caught and released a 30-inch tiger muskie Monday at Bluewater Lake. He was using a fire tiger Rapala husky jerk.

Van Rocco of Albuquerqu­e caught a 20-inch, 2½-pound brown trout Nov. 15 on the Chama River. He was fishing the river below El Vado and using a night crawler.

Andres Barela of Albuquerqu­e caught a 24-inch, 5.2-pound walleye Sunday at Cochiti Lake. It was his first walleye, and he was using a yellow glitter deep diving crank bait tipped with half a night crawler.

AROUND THE STATE

NMDGF: In observance of Thanksgivi­ng, the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish offices will be closed today and Friday. Online licensing will be available at onlinesale­s. wildlife.state.nm.us.

NOTES from GAME & FISH: Fishing at TINGLEY BEACH’S Youth and Central ponds was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms, spinners, Pistol Petes, woolly buggers and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout. Fishing at the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Pond was fair to good using beadhead pheasant tail nymphs, small leech patterns and custom tied flies for trout.

Trout fishing continued as good to excellent based on reports received from anglers fishing the ALBUQUERQU­E, BERNALILLO, CORRALES, PERALTA and BELEN DRAINS. Anglers reported great success using worms under a bobber, PowerBait, Fire Balls, small grubs, micro mays and custom tied nymphs. Fishing was fair using worms, grubs, tubes and jigs for largemouth bass and catfish.

At MANZANO LAKE, fishing was fair to good using garlic PowerBait, salmon egg corn combinatio­ns and worms for trout.

Fishing at FENTON LAKE was very good from the bank and from boats. Anglers did well using PowerBait, salmon eggs, corn, woolly buggers, Pistol Petes, spoons and spinners.

Streamflow on the JEMEZ RIVER near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 24.8 cfs. Fishing on the Jemez was good using copper John Barrs, custom tied mop flies, Fire Balls and worms for trout. Trout fishing on the lower CEBOLLA was fair to good using worms and Fire Balls.

At MONASTERY LAKE, fishing was very good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.

Monday morning water flows on the CHAMA RIVER below El Vado and Abiquiu were 507 cfs and 832 cfs respective­ly. Fishing above El Vado was very good using an assortment of small nymphs for brown and rainbow trout. Fishing below El Vado was good using bead-head hares ear nymphs, woolly buggers, spinners, night crawlers and Fire Balls for brown and rainbow trout.

Trout fishing at LAKE MALOYA was fair to good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and salmon egg corn combinatio­ns for trout.

Streamflow on the RED RIVER below the hatchery on Monday was 54.4 cfs. Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs and small beadhead nymphs for trout.

Streamflow on the RIO GRANDE on Monday at the Taos Junction Bridge was 629 cfs. Before the latest rise in the flows, fishing was good using prince nymphs, crane flies, bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, small mayfly nymphs, Panther Martins, worms and salmon eggs for brown and rainbow trout.

Streamflow on the SAN JUAN RIVER on Monday morning was 428 cfs. Fly fishing action through the high-quality waters was good for anglers using foam wing emergers, fluff baetis, brassies, small zebra midges, crystal flash emergers, RS2, comparadun­s, red larva, parachute adams and small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs. Trout fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs, woolly worms, prince nymphs and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs.

At LAKE FARMINGTON, fishing was very good using PowerBait, homemade dough bait and salmon eggs for trout.

Fishing at ELEPHANT BUTTE LAKE was good using crank baits, blade baits, spoons and jig and minnow combinatio­ns for white bass. Fishing was good using cut bait, night crawlers, liver and homemade dough baits for catfish.

Streamflow on the RIO GRANDE below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 0.35 cfs. Fishing for catfish in the Mesilla Valley Dam area was good. Anglers did well using night crawlers and homemade dough baits with a liver and cheese mixture.

At GREEN MEADOW LAKE, trout fishing was very good using salmon eggs, PowerBait, spinners and Pistol Petes.
