Republicans? More like cowardly skunks
LETTERS
Pusillanimous Polecats! On the old “Lassie” television series, it was Gramps’ epithet for particularly odious people. It translates to “cowardly skunks.” Today, it perfectly fits Congressional Republicans.
Cowardly? They are letting the man in the Oval Office, basically an overstuffed suit topped by a disordered and largely empty brain, bully them into helping him destroy our Democracy. Every now and then, there is a mild revolt and/ or a few critical words, but it is only a ripple on an ocean of corruption that should, instead, be a tsunami.
Skunks? They are ecstatic that Donald Trump encourages them to implement some of the most oppressive legislation in the history of our Democracy: “Health Care” legislation that would strip medical insurance from millions of Americans; “Tax Reform” that would steal money from the pockets of ordinary Americans and deliver it to the obscenely wealthy; “Pro Life” legislation that claims reverence for the unborn, effectively seizing control of the bodies of American women and completely ignoring the unborn after birth; laws that strip civil rights from many minority groups; and complete unconcern for the air, water and land with which we all live.
Indeed, Pusillanimous Polecats is much too mild for Republicans in Congress.
