Howard S. Ellsworth

Howard was born on September 30, 1923 in Willimanti­c, CT. He was raised in rural CT with his four brothers and one sister.

He entered the Navy in 1944 as a Corpsman. After the war he attended and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN. In 1949 he moved to Gallup, NM and taught high school Science. In 1952 he moved his family to Albuquerqu­e and began his 44 year career with State Farm Insurance.

Howard was a licensed private pilot and loved flying his Bonanza aircraft. He was also an accomplish­ed sailor and golfer. He and Christa lived on their boat in Florida for many years.

Howard is survived by his wife Christa Ellsworth and their dog Joy. His children, Robert Ellsworth and wife Patricia, Linda Shoemaker and husband Ken, Jodie Oster and husband Steve, Susie Ellsworth Cotter and Doug Cotter. Howard had 13 grandchild­ren and 22 great-grandchild­ren. Also surviving is Christa’s daughter Shelly Kundracik and husband Andre.

He was preceded in death by Betty Ellsworth, the mother of his four children and grandson, Jared Shoemaker.

Howard’s memorial service will be held Friday, December 01, 2017 at 9:30 AM followed by a reception at 10:30 AM, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming NE. Interment to follow at Sandia Memory Gardens.
