Mary Stevenson Madsen

-

Our darling Mother Mary Stevenson Madsen was born in a small farming community in Utah on September 23, 1923.

She met and married Milton Madsen while attending Utah State University and soon after moved to Albuquerque. Milt passed away 10 years ago but in the mean time they had four children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mary was a member of the Sonato Club, Pen Women, and a fifty year member of Yucca Art Gallery. She loved her family and all her many friends. She also loved her art work and painted steadily her whole life. Her passions among many included gardening, chile rellenos-extra crispy with red and green, and a rum and coke or a salty rimmed margarita. Mary always said that if you didn’t know how to laugh you might as well not even get out of bed… subsequently that became the mantra of her life. Every day for Mary turned into an audition for Saturday Night Live. She loved a good joke and treated most things with a smile which could easily turn into side splitting laughter. But when it came to her family she loved them with a beautiful energy that never failed. She anchored all our lives together with her caring way, her unconditional love and her ability to turn almost everything into a funny episode. She showed us all what true love was supposed to look like.

She peacefully passed away in the care of Hospice still in her apartment and surrounded by her family and loved ones. We will all cherish our memories of her for the rest of our days.

We would like to thank Manzano del Sol for providing her with such a splendid stage to perform the last act of her life…she loved living there and always had an audience of old and new friends that she could laugh and talk to. Also special thanks to Heartland Hospice for making her as comfortable as possible and aiding the family with their gentle manner. "So long" to our dear Mary and a life well lived. In lieu of flowers get up in the morning, find something to laugh about and take your family and loved ones out to dinner. Have the time of your life for it doesn’t last forever…..time is a wasting.

There will be a Celebration of the Life and Times of Mary Madsen at Manzano del Sol Village, 5201 Roma Avenue N.E., Saturday December 2, 2017, 2:00-4:00 p.m. To view information or leave a condolence, please visit www.danielsfuneral.com Daniels Family Funeral Services 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109
