Mary Navalesi Cito (Nonni) a long time resident of Albuquerqu­e passed away November 6, 2017. She was born in Walsenburg, CO in 1919. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Vinzie Navelesi; her brothers, Henry, Bruno, and Gene; and by her husband of 65 years, Frank Cito.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen Cito and wife, Debbie; her sister, Theresa Campagnola; and her sister-in-law, Nadine Navalesi. Mary is also survived by three grandsons, Dr. Michael Cito and his wife, Allison, Marc Cito and his wife, Alana; and Joseph Cito; as well as her cherished great-grandchild­ren, Luke, Dillon, Gianna Marie, and Daniel.

Mary graduated as valedictor­ian from her high school in Sterling, Colorado and earned a scholarshi­p to a university in Denver. After graduating from business school she accepted a position with the United States Federal Government in Washington D.C. during World War II. After World War II, she was transferre­d to a position with the Indian Health Service in Albuquerqu­e, where she would meet her husband Frank and would eventually retire after 32 years of federal service.

Mary and her husband Frank enjoyed traveling the world, especially cruises and weekend trips to their summer homes in Elephant Butte, NM and Lake City, CO. She also traveled to Italy several times to visit relatives.

She loved her family and was very active in their lives, rarely missing sporting events, birthday parties, and other family functions.

Mary was also a devout Catholic regularly attending church at Immaculate Conception.

She was very proud of her son, her grandsons and her great-grandchild­ren. She was a proud member of the Italian Women’s Club, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Animal Humane Society for many years.
